Abstract

Gear hobbing is one of the major manufacturing processes in the industry. Hobbing is an efficient method to manufacture high quality and high performance gears. Optimization is one of the techniques used in manufacturing sectors to arrive at the best manufacturing conditions. This is an essential need for industries for manufacturing of quality products at lower cost. This project focuses on improving the productivity & quality of gear hobbing process by parametric optimization. Taguchi method is used for selecting the design of experiments and Grey Relational Analysis is used to optimize the performance characteristics like Material Removal Rate & Surface Roughness.
