Abstract

Wear takes a predominant role in reducing the life time of metals. This investigation focuses on the influence of titanium powder Nano coating on aluminum bronze disc. Titanium powder was coated on the aluminum bronze disc by using physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique .The copper alloy, aluminum bronze was selected as work piece material. The performance parameters like volume loss, wear rate, stresses developed and temperature rise on coated aluminum bronze disc and uncoated aluminium bronze disc upon machining were determined and compared .The performance parameters were calculated by using coefficient of friction values which were obtained from the Pin-on disc experiment. Substantial resistance to wear has been achieved by coating. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Analysis and Energy dispersive by X-ray (EDAX) were used as characterization techniques. The coated surface offers good wear reisistance and mechanical strength.
