Abstract

Conceptual design is the most important phase of the product design as the decisions taken at conceptual design stage affect the downstream phases in terms of quality, cost, and purpose performed by the product. This paper presents a case study to show the proof of the concept by selecting one concept among different design alternatives using design context knowledge thereby proactively supporting conceptual design decision making. Under the product design perspective the present research work explores through the Conceptual design of ?play pump? (case study) of how the play full energy of children is converted into useful source of work. Fabricating a prototype to these case studies an attempt is made to explore product design implication.
