Abstract

The paper presents optimal design of a smart milling cutter. The fusion of IT makes the cutter design an attractive idea. The milling cutter so designed will produce part of high quality at low cost. The cutter can adjust its speed, feed and depth of cut in range suggested by the design after feed back from AE sensors attached to the milling cutter. A new concept of automated optimal design has been presented which can make the smart cutter design task easier.
