Abstract

In this paper, the analysis of dynamic response of a typical car driver?s seat suspension system has been carried out. The Car Driver?s Seat Suspension System (CDSSS for short) has been modeled as a SDOF suspension system in which along with seat suspension spring ,an elastically supported damper and an air damper with variable damping have been used to study the effect of these dampers on the vibration isolation efficiency (Transmissibility) of the CDSSS. In all 6 variations of the generalized model of CDSSS have been studied. Analytical expressions for the transmissibility for these models have been derived to correlate the results of experimental analysis. It is observed that CDSSS model with an air bellow type damper and viscous damper gives substantial reduction in the transmissibility at resonance improving the seating comfort of the car driver.
