Abstract

Aluminium 6082 alloy is widely used material in aerospace, marine and automobile industries, because of its uses properties such as lightness, high strength to weight ratio, reliability and resistance to corrosion. In this study Al6082 alloy was coated with Nickel and reinforcement of Aluminium oxide nanoparticles by pulse electrodeposition method to enhance wear resistance and mechanical properties. Electrodeposition process parameters influences on efficiency of coating on metal substrate. Sliding wear test was conducted as per ASTM G99 standard by using Taguchi L27 orthogonal array, to understand wear behavior of coated specimens. The DOE method is used to reduce number of experimental trials to calculate wear loss. The ANOVA results show significant influence of process parameters on wear rate of Al6082 alloy. Regression analysis provides a relationship between an independent/predictor variable and a response variable by fitting a linear equation to the observed data.
